This Typha latifolia community is located near the east end of Kate's Branch Wetland. Most of the wetland is a complex mosaic of Sparganium americanum/Scirpus/Carex Open Wetland and Alnus serrulata/Hypericum densiflorum Shrub Wetland.;This plot is centered around a Typha latifolia bed. The soil is at least saturated throughout (there are also large areas where there is some standing water).

This plot is representative of a cattail wetland community within Kate's Branch Wetland. Typha latifolia is the dominant species with Sparganium americanum growing at its edges where there is more standing water. Many Carex and Scirpus species are also
